Biography
Ramón DE VARGAS is a multifaceted and deeply restless artist whose work has left a lasting mark on the national and international art scene. Although his beginnings were linked to music - he studied violin and piano - he soon discovered painting as his main means of expression. Since then, he has dedicated a large part of his life to this discipline, obtaining awards such as the Sesame Grand Prixthe Medal of Arts, Sciences and Letters of France or the Golden Seagull. His art forms part of prestigious collections such as the Vatican Museumthe National Museum of Rio de Janeirothe Museum of Contemporary Art of Madrid or the Contemporary Museum of San Francisco.
In addition to painting, his inexhaustible curiosity led him to explore other disciplines such as the photographythe cinemathe experimental videothe sculpturethe musical composition and the writingHe stands out in all of them for his authenticity and his constant desire to experiment. Loyal to himself and alien to passing fashions, Ramón DE VARGAS has built his own language, intense and profoundly human. His legacy lives on thanks to the DE VARGAS Foundationcreated in 2011 to preserve, disseminate and celebrate the work of this tireless creator.
